Depart Prague and head to Telč, a fairy tale town situated in the Moravia. The town center was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, and it represents a great architectural jewel. The history of this laid-back town dates to the 12th century, but after the big fire which hit the town in the 16th century, the whole city center had to be renovated. And so nowadays you can enjoy a unique renaissance and baroque architecture of the houses on the main square and a beautiful chateau.

Lunch will be served at the second UNESCO-listed town: Třebíč. This town has been shaped by multiple cultural and religious influences. Visit the famous Jewish Quarter which began to be developed in the 14th century. Later, explore the nearby Basilica of St. Procopius. The Basilica dates to the 13th century and it is the first example of  the western architecture in the Central Europe. The main door has incredibly detailed stone carvings, and there are wonderful golden artworks inside. Both monuments are recognized as an UNESCO important cultural sites, but more importantly they demonstrate an unusual religious tolerance between the Jewish and the Christians from the Middle Ages through to the 20th century.

Your next destination will be another UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Pilgrimage Church of Saint John of Nepomuk on the Zelená Hora. It is another Moravian jewel which was constructed in honour of St. John of Nepomuk, the Czech martyr who was drowned in the Vltava River because he refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. The concept of the church is unique and was very modern for its time. Santini combined the Baroque style with Gothic elements in both construction and decoration. Once done exploring this church, return to Prague where your tour will end.

"

I had been in Prague for a few days and decided to spend my last day escaping and seeing a different side of the Czech Republic. Marek was the perfect guide; experienced, friendly, spoke English well and had a clear love for where he lives. The hike was not too difficult and afterwards we had lunch at the perfect place with options for everyone's preferences. I highly recommend this trip and Marek as a guide.
